Injustice And Discrimination

Injustice

Injustice And DiscriminationWith the recent police allegation of police misconduct one has to wonder, does God really care about the injustice and suffering that humans experience? It is hard to not get involved when you hear of innocent people being hurt. But we as Christians need to understand that the laws of this land we are to follow. (Read Romans 13:1-7) However we are to follow God’s laws as long as they do not disobey his laws or what he requires of us. In terms of man’s laws, we are to obey for according to Paul at Romans 13: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (ESV)

For Ecclesiastes 4:1 tells us: “Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun:I saw the tears of the oppressed—    and they have no comforter;power was on the side of their oppressors—and they have no comforter.” What does it mean? According to Matthew Henry, ” It grieved Solomon to see might prevail against right. Wherever we turn, we see melancholy proofs of the wickedness and misery of mankind, who try to create trouble to themselves and to each other. Being thus hardly used, men are tempted to hate and despise life. But a good man, though badly off while in this world, cannot have cause to wish he had never been born, since he is glorifying the Lord, even in the fires, and will be happy at last, for ever happy. Ungodly men have most cause to wish the continuance of life with all its vexations, as a far more miserable condition awaits them if they die in their sins. If human and worldly things were our chief good, not to exist would be preferable to life, considering the various oppressions here below.”

God will help us in this situation as the Psalmist David said at Psalms 72:12-14: “For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.He will take pity on the weak and the needy  and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.” (NIV). God will rescue  us and will help those that call upon him and he will rescue us from oppression and violence, However, we must not try to go against the laws of the land. For they are in place by God himself.
